Vice President of Compliance, Diversity and Ethics

Duties: Reporting to the University President, the Vice President of Compliance, Diversity and Ethics is the university’s executive-level compliance, diversity and ethics strategist and champion. Serve as Chief Compliance Officer. Advise university leadership on compliance policies and procedures. Evaluate and monitor compliance university-wide while facilitating collaboration, raising awareness, and providing guidance. Lead institutional responses to noncompliance as directed by the President. Oversee policy review and development university-wide. Monitor and evaluate standards and procedures to prevent illegal, unethical and improper activity. Work with department-level compliance leaders to synchronize compliance policies and activities. Lead the university’s efforts to ensure a diverse student body and workforce. Design, review, plan and implement programs and initiatives that promote a diverse and inclusive workforce and student body. Work collaboratively with all the academic and administrative units on campus and with the surrounding community. Ensure that the link between diversity and excellence is understood and integrated into the university community. Monitor and oversee Title IX compliance. Oversee the investigation and resolution of student and employee complaints of discrimination and sexual harassment, advising the administration about resolving them through investigative and other intervention techniques. Oversee enforcement of all federal and state requirements for affirmative action, equal employment opportunity, civil rights, and ADA compliance. Facilitate reasonable accommodations for employees, applicants and visitors. Work with academic departments and Human Resources and Payroll to develop diverse academic pools; and monitor recruitment, selection, promotions and terminations to ensure compliance with EEO regulations. Adjudicate and issue final dispositions on all EEO complaints filed with the university, and serve as the principle contact for all matters related to civil rights from federal and state agencies. Establish standards and procedures to promote ethical behavior throughout the university. Promote and maintain the university’s Code of Ethics (****to enhance awareness of, and compliance with, the university’s core values, applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures. Collaborate with executive leadership, faculty, students and staff to provide training, education, and promote awareness of and help resolve ethical or policy violations. Proactively engage with the university community to identify, investigate and evaluate concerns; assess risk; and assist in developing effective and compliant solutions that reflect the university’s core values. Recommend corrective and other actions to promote ethical culture, decisions and behavior, and mitigate institutional risk and properly address ethics and compliance concerns in a timely manner. Provide regular reports and presentations to executive leadership to convey relevant and timely information about ethics and compliance activities, trends, and the status of significant corrective action plans.
