This position is located in Santa Monica, CA. Responsibilities:

Oversee a large database of freelance content providers and topic experts to meet production goals in multiple editorial categories.
Help guide and assist freelancers through all stages of the standardized content creation process. This includes reviewing plagiarism flags, rejection appeals, title clarifications and guidelines.
Monitor article and writer quality; identify poor quality, provide feedback and implement improvement plan.
Work in concert with segment topic expert to ensure quality across entire content creation process from title creation to quality audits.
Build strong relationship with segment expert and writing community to instill high quality values and an innovative spirit.
Manage writer and editor recruitment and application reviewing process
Work extensively with content management systems and interactive tools
Understand and implement SEO best practices to edit and create valuable online content
Collaborate closely with other editors to maintain quality, innovation, community and scale
Develop a keen understanding of Demand Media’s competitive landscape with a drive to innovate new products and develop new audiences

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or related field preferred
3-5 years experience in editorial production with emphasis on digital.
Demonstrated proficiency with writing and editing
Solid knowledge of grammar and sentence structure
Efficiency, accuracy, strong organizational skills, dependability and a keen eye for detail
Strong communication skills
Understanding of traditional journalism and how it fits into the evolving paradigms of the Web
Clear understanding of online publishing and the competitive landscape
Ability to work with freelance writers, make assignments and provide feedback
Ability to successfully juggle several projects simultaneously while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
Familiarity with AP style or other publishing style manuals
Strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating in a team environment
Solid Microsoft Office skills
Knowledge of Web publishing tools, such as blog software, a plus
