Bristol-Myers Squibb is a global Biopharma company committed to a single mission: to discover, develop, and deliver innovative medicines focused on helping millions of patients around the world in disease areas such as oncology, cardiovascular, immunoscience and fibrosis.
Join us and make a difference. We hire the best people and provide them with a work environment that places a premium on diversity, integrity, collaboration and personal development. Through a culture of inclusion, we create a better, more productive work environment. We believe that the diverse experiences and perspectives of all our employees help to drive innovation and transformative business results.
The BMS Immuno-Oncology and Cell Therapy Thematic Research Center is dedicated to research supporting development of novel cellular immunotherapies based on two distinct and complementary platforms – Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) and T Cell Receptors (TCRs) technologies. Our goal is to revolutionize medicine by re-engaging the body’s immune system to treat cancer.
To better understand the role of cell state in terms of product potency and potential, BMS is developing cellular and molecular profiling methods for deep characterization of T cells. This position will report to the Project Lead and work with our team on in vitro characterization of primary human cells including sample processing, phenotypic and functional analyses, CAR T or eTCR generation and various NGS assays. The candidate must be familiar with cellular and molecular biology techniques including mammalian cell culture, bead-based or other methods of cell selection/enrichment, nucleic acid extraction/preparation, PCR/qPCR/ddPCR, flow cytometry and have a strong organizational ability. Prior experience with clinical samples, human T cells and/or evaluation of CAR-T is preferred.
Our team’s overall goal is to identify attributes of CAR-T cell health, function and potency with predicative value as well as iterate on improving the overall therapeutic potential of cellular therapies for Celgene’s Research and Clinical Development Pipelines. Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Independent planning and execution of experiments and/or assay development• Interrogation of primary human material; cell handling, setup and maintenance of tissue culture studies and performing various functional assays• Nucleic acid isolation/handling and/or novel molecular assays• FACS characterization across longitudinal studies and/or purification of cell populations of interest• Communicate progress and results in group meetings and cross-functionally across BMS
• Record keeping in an electronic notebook documenting experimental details
• Being flexible and amendable to working in a fast-paced, frequently evolving environmentSkills/Knowledge Required:• Expertise in cellular and molecular biology
• Highly organized, with the ability to manage large numbers of samples and independently track progress through varying stages of a process or project• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Prior experience writing technical reports and/or method development protocols• Familiar with general statistical practices Preferred Qualifications:
• Immunology background; working knowledge of cell types and functional assays
• Prior industry experience• Experience with low input cellular and molecular assays• Experience with high-parameter FACS (10-15 colors)
Level consideration will be determined based on prior experience.
Senior Research Associate: Bachelor’s degree in cellular or molecular biology, biological engineering or a related scientific field with 3 years or Master’s degree with 2 years.
Associate Scientist: Bachelor’s degree with 5 years or Master’s degree with 3 years of experience.
