Greythorn is seeking a Linux Server Administrator with experience in managing, designing and building out both internal systems like LDAP, and external systems such as SQL, Apache, etc.

You will be responsible for activities with server infrastructure as well as some aspects of telephony and Desktop (Mac) support. You will provide the technical planning and implementation for updating of IT services onto new central infrastructure. This will primarily involve migrating and/or rationalizing servers and services from old infrastructure onto central data center infrastructure (mostly virtual servers). This role will also play a key role in helping define the new Cloud based system this company is looking to create.

Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement the rationalization and migration of services onto central infrastructure in line with standard operational procedures.
Validate solution design and implementation
Work effectively with both external faculty stakeholders and internal support teams to coordinate the migration of services in an efficient manner and with minimal impact to services
Provide expert technical advice and analysis on Unix/Linux systems, delivering gap analyses and prioritized risk assessments with the objective of ensuring optimal application of the Organization's resources
Coordinate the decommissioning activities pertaining to old infrastructure
Handover to operational support processes include the development and maintenance of relevant documentation
Establishing and maintaining effective internal relationships.
Provide regular and accurate updates relating to the status of the remediation activities and the forecast for upcoming work
Skills:
Proven technical skills with Linux/Unix systems administration
Proven technical skills in TCP/IP network administration and implementation, including DHCP / DNS.
Strong understanding of VMware technology and storage principles.
Demonstrated ability to research, analyze and solve complex application support and hosting problems and issues
Proven project and server migration experience
Desirable: technical skills in OS X server administration and integration.
Experience with FreeBSD
Proven working knowledge with server hardening techniques in Linux.
Proven working knowledge of enterprise server technologies services (File, Print and Authentication, LDAP, Load balancing, Security, Apache Web, Backup/Recovery, IMAP and SMTP email
Experience in day-to-day MySQL database administration and access management.
Strong customer service focus, demonstrating professional communications, issue ownership and flexible solutions with internal and external stakeholders (vendors, co service providers etc).
