Product Designer/Development Engineer
Highly innovative shoe designer and manufacturer is looking for a Product development engineer to assist with the design of an enhanced version of one of their top products. The project requires an engineer with experience in the footwear comfort market, capabilities to transform 2D designs in 3D, manage creation and testing of prototypes, define materials and provide specifications for manufacturing. This is a contract project.
Project Description:
This role entails athlete insight, innovation, research, concept generation, and strong teamwork and collaboration with Developers and Product Line Mangers (PLM). In this role, you are responsible for driving innovative and functional designs for our footwear-related product. Thus, the company will expect from the engineer to:
Design Prototypes
The company will provide the general information about the original product, 2D designs of the new product, the improvements expected for this new version for the development of 3D CAD drawings which will serve as the initial concept to be developed further into the final product.
Test Products
The chosen candidate will also have support management of testing in order to identify any issues further into the production stage and get feedback from potential consumers.
Sample Different Materials
Our company is recognized because of the quality of our products thus material selection plays a crucial role in the final product. It would be your job to identify appropriate materials to find which is best suited.
Document Production Processes and observations
As this product will be later manufactured a manufacturer of our selection, is important that all special guidelines or comments are documented.
Minimum Requirements:
* Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or relevant discipline.
* 3 years of experience.
* Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, materials, and quality assurance regulations
* Strong knowledge and experience in 3D CAD
* Experience with prototyping, testing, manufacturing
* Well versed in Injection-molded component design and processing.
* Understanding of metal component manufacturing techniques.
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, Kaizen, 6-Sigma, JIT, Set-up Reduction, etc
* Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Project.
* Excellent communication and negotiation skills with ability to interface effectively with others at all levels of the organization, ranging from senior vice presidents to product assembly teams.
* Self-motivated with high sense of urgency, resourcefulness and adaptability.
* Strong customer orientation. Team spirit, entrepreneurial and continuous improvement mindset.
