Profile

CDO is looking for a VMware Administrator that is experienced with a converged architecture. The position will support virtualized infrastructures during business hours for the workweek, providing daily technical support and working with the Operations team and architects in developing and implementing systems and services.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting Cisco Unified Communications Systems (UCS), supporting virtualization infrastructure, network equipment ranging from access to edge devices in a campus environment for AFRL. Rome. Tasking will include install/upgrade/support & maintenance/troubleshooting of the virtualization infrastructure and of ancillary, network, server and storage environments. Configuration Management tasks, system diagrams and system documentation are an important aspect of this position.
Responsibilities/Duties:
Provide engineering support for the UCS, NXOS, and VMware Virtual Environment deployment.
Support, design, testing, review, system maintenance, vendor/contractor liaison and other activities as required for the effort
Install, configure, and manage UCS, Cisco Nexus, 3Par storage, and VMware vSphere environment: vCenter, hypervisor on new hosts, virtual machines, datastore creation and maintenance in coordination with storage engineers
Planning and convert P2V as directed on Windows, UNIX, and Linux operating systems. Troubleshoot interoperability and performance issues
Maintain virtualized architecture using vCenter
Provide support and administer multiple environments (e.g., production, testing) on multiple enclaves
Coordination/integration with specialists from storage, network, server, and db systems
Provide Tier 2/3 technical support regarding virtualization issues
Diagnose problems on ESXi hosts; troubleshoot technology issues, using various resources; document lessons learned
Follow policies and procedures for change and incident management
Document virtualization environment and keep documents updated per the configuration management plan
Automate processes where appropriate and apply datastore best practices
Health- performance-optimization monitoring of virtualized architecture with Cisco, VMware and Solarwinds monitoring tools.
Engineering knowledge of Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA)
ASA configuration and maintenance for virtual environments
Engineering knowledge of flowing network supporting technologies:
Cisco - Virtual Device Context (VDC), Nexus 1000, 2000, 5000, 6000, 7000 Series Switches
Working knowledge other following networking supporting technologies:
HP/Brocade fabric Switches, Cisco ,3700, 3800, 4900 Series Routers and Switches
Provide additional reach back support for both Network Operations and Server/Systems Operations as needed
Job Requirements :
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
4-9 years VMware experience
Security or CISSP
VMWare Certified Professional vSphere 5.x or Higher.
CCNP-DC
Engineering knowledge of Cisco USC Manager
Engineering knowledge of Cisco UCS B & C-series servers
Engineering knowledge of Cisco Nexus switches
Virtualized fabrics & switches
Network fabrics & switches
Microsoft, UNIX, Linux server experience
Preferred: VMWare Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP) vSphere 5.x or higher
Experience of delivering services in a production environment following ITIL is a plus
Exhibit strong organizational, analytical, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
Windows technologies and design (Domain Controllers, IIS, & clustering)
Strong attention to detail
Cybersecurity knowledge and experience hardening hypervisors and guest OS’s; also knowledge of attack vectors aimed at the virtualization layer
Experience using and configuring vSphere APIs (e.g., VADP, VASA, VAAI)
