Job Summary

Responsible for directing and implementing programs and activities for community investments necessary to increase public awareness of and foster support for, the Company. Directs strategic planning activities. Directs and monitors work performed by employees and contractors, including outreach activities. Develops and implements community investments strategy and system-wide crisis communications plans. Direct the company's philanthropy including strategy, program and partnership development and day-to-day operation of all corporate contributions activity and the Company foundation. Provides leadership and direction for diverse and complex functions. Contributes to the development of the organization's business strategy. Interprets business strategy and develops organizational objectives to align with this strategy. Typically manages multiple teams of professionals.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities


Evaluates proposals, recommends grant recipients to the board of the foundation, disburses grant funds and evaluates results. Works closely with non-profit organizations and community groups and communicates foundation guidelines to relevant public.

Develops and maintains positive media relationships, generating community investments in both foundation and community programs. Works with appropriate HQ entity and field staff to ensure airing of PSAs and provision of other commitments of in-kind donations.

Develops image advertising; works with internal and external creative/graphic design team on images to be used company-wide that reflect community focus consistent with business philosophy.

Evaluates and selects cause marketing sponsorships, including events for corporate and cable that increase brand awareness.

Develops and maintains positive relationships with community partners to ensure effective reaching of mutual goals and objectives.

Develops and drives cable division community image strategic programs, including providing guidance and direction in the coordination of special events, targeting organizations for foundation grants and charitable contributions and cause marketing sponsorships.

Develops speeches and speaking points for community events/conferences representing Company and cable division; positions the organization as a good corporate citizen.

Serves as an external affairs contact at the system level, deals with community complaints, inquiries (information and contribution requests) and opportunities that foster the Company image and brand.

Performs duties such as serves on political action committees performing solicitations, disbursements and reporting. Creates and distributes financial and other reports and presentations relating to Foundation funding and corporate contributions. Oversees use of related databases and other applications. Works closely with the Finance department in preparation of reports as well as cash flow planning and disbursements.

Maintains, manages and updates franchise database with information related to franchise contacts, negotiations and other relevant information in order to facilitate communication with local franchising authorities, community leaders and various public organizations.

Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
