Associate Director of Planned Giving

Duties: Reporting to the Director of Planned Giving, the Associate Director of Planned Giving provides expertise to Development in the areas of estate and tax planning. Works with donor prospects to develop and cultivate relationships in order to solicit planned and major gifts in support of university priorities. Identifying, cultivating and soliciting donor prospects and closing major and planned gifts. Departmental expectations include annual increases in gift production; increases in Finn Society membership and on-going improvements to the efficiency and effectiveness of planned giving operations. Build strong relationships with donors and prospects, utilizing expertise and familiarity with charitable gift planning to propose gift strategies that address financial and philanthropic objectives. Identifies, cultivates and solicits prospects for major and planned gifts sufficient to meet or exceed gift production objectives set annually. Develops and executes plan for personal solicitations and communications to assigned prospects in order to achieve annual production goals. Attends and assists in hosting university and alumni events. Provides internal legal counsel for Development, primarily in the area of estate and tax planning in an effort to support the planned giving department by taking estates through probate; designing and drafting estate plans; responding to taxation issues related to estates; managing relationships with outside counsel; and advising donors and internal staff members on other legal issues concerning estate and tax planning. Assists and advises Director in the development of overall strategic plan for cultivating, soliciting and bringing to closure planned gifts among the UST constituency. Implements programs to support all planned giving activities. Together with Director, serves as special adviser to other development officers with complex planned giving prospect needs. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of Planned Giving.
