Legal And Regulatory Specialist
The candidate will report to the Chief of Staff. Will counsel colleagues on matters of contract, education, and employment law. Refine and strengthen internal systems, steward internal legal standards, review and facilitate external legal agreements, serve as internal legal advisor, and liaise with external counsel for complex legal and regulatory matters. Support healthy, sustainable growth for a leading edge graduate school of education. Steward legal standards and expectations for the organization. Strengthen the organization's legal systems by refining templates and processes, advancing colleagues' legal and regulatory knowledge, and strengthening colleagues' ability to navigate common legal and regulatory matters. Facilitate, draft, review, and negotiate a variety of internal and external contracts (e.g., employment, partnerships, vendors). Advise the organization on intellectual property matters (e.g., content creation, content licensing, fair use, data use agreements). Advise the organization on privacy matters (e.g., student privacy, media agreements, student enrollment agreements). Interface with external expert counsel, as needed, on complex legal and regulatory matters. Remain abreast of relevant education law and regulations (e.g., FERPA, media, state regulations, accreditation).
