Development Director and Team Leader, School of Law
The candidate solicits major gifts and coordinates preparation and development of major gift proposals for the School of Law as part of a strategic operational plan. Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major gift donors and prospects for the School of Law, working with the Law School Dean, KU Endowment staff, University administrators, faculty, and volunteers. Crafts and deploys a strategic operational plan- develops and implements both annual and long-range goals, objectives, and strategies to maximize private support for the School of Law, consistent with the overall plan of KU Endowment. As a team lead, candidate will demonstrate strong, seasoned, professional experience. Manages, monitors, and mentors one other professional fundraiser focused on strategic identification of prospects and timely and consistent movement through management stages (qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship).Supervises the Development Assistant who provides administrative support for this constituent area. Personally solicits annual memberships in the School’s Deans Club ($1,000 or more) with the goal of increasing annual memberships. Coordinates Law School outreach efforts with Law School staff and acts as a liaison to the Law School for KU Endowment. Performs such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Assistant Vice President for Development and other senior development staff. Must have Juris Doctorate degree and 3+ years of professional experience in fundraising or related field required. KU Law degree, higher education major gift fundraising experience, and management experience is preferred. Excellent written, oral and inter-personal communications skills, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team are essential. Must possess the ability to independently initiate, organize and follow through with fundraising strategies.
