Organizational Description: WVXU is a public radio station located in Cincinnati, Ohio. It is owned by Cincinnati Public Radio, which also operates station WGUC and WMUB. It broadcasts at 91.7 FM and airs public radio news/talk syndicated programming from National Public Radio, American Public Media and Public Radio International. 

 

Job Description: he goal of our internship program is to give you the opportunity to observe and work in all areas of the WVXU news department. Internships will include rotation through the various aspects of the news department including observing hosting, reporting, editing, and producing.

 

Responsibilities

*Be able to write or edit news stories. *Be able to run general broadcast equipment (audio editing software, field recorder, etc.).
 

Required Skills

*To have an interest in the news with a thorough knowledge of current events *Completed broadcast news writing classes (print classes would also be helpful). *General knowledge of broadcasting equipment.
 
Minimum Qualifications:

*Recipient of work study award based on financial need and must be admitted into a degree program. *Must be enrolled at least part-time (6 credit hours for undergraduate students and 5 credit hours for graduate students), with the exception of summer quarter, or will be a registered student during the next academic quarter/semester for summer work. *Student workers must meet the enrollment requirement for the entire quarter *Must be age 16 or older
 
Work Hours

Scheduling is flexible, but all interns must commit to a minimum of 15 hours per week for 9 to 12 weeks. For more information, please follow this link to the syllabus:****
 

Pay Rate

$10.00 per hour
