Office of Innovation Management: Associate Director
The candidate will work with the Director of OIM to interview patentees, identify IP and prepare for disposition thereof. Will establish a management plan for every intellectual asset and will participate in patent prosecution activities, market planning and promotion over the entire university IP estate. Will assist OIM in identification of IP created at the University, review, analyze and evaluate new disclosures for commercial potential, practical utilities and licensee prospects. Will work with inventors to conduct market research and valuation of IP for recommendation of commercialization strategies and will work with inventors to develop marketing materials, contact potential licensees, and explain the possible utilities and value of innovations to entice interests. Will provide assistance and support faculty and student based start-ups based on University licenses and develop and oversee campus-wide educational program to increase the general awareness of IP issues by the campus community. Will also work with faculty and liaison with the Office of Communications and Marketing to describe the results and impact of funded projects, university research initiatives, and resulting innovations for dissemination through media outlets, university publications and website, and other appropriate means.
