Shag Operator

Profile

Applicant must have the ability to operate 18-wheeler tractor trailer combinations in a confined space. Applicant chosen will be:


Washing interior and exterior of trailers.

Spotting trailers in and out of loading docks.

Monitoring and conducting product protection.

Monitoring temps on trailer units.


JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:


Applicant must carry a valid driver’s license.

High school diploma or GED preferred.

Must be able to communicate both verbally and in writing with other team members as well as all levels of Management/Mgt. Support and Government Officials.

Prior experience as a Shag Operator is preferred.

Must be 18 years or older.

Applicant must be willing to work any shift as required by the freezer manager, with possible rotation to night shift.

Applicant must have reliable transportation to get to and from work.

General driving skills.

Must be capable of continuous climbing, lifting to 60 lbs. unassisted, and working in extreme hot or cold temperatures as this is an outside work environment.

Applicant will be expected to cross train in various other areas.

Candidate will also be expected to have a good safety record.

Ability to work under little supervision.

Must be available to work weekends and holidays.

Any other tasks or miscellaneous duties deemed appropriate by the supervisor.


Other requirements: This position is slated for candidates who are currently working at this facility, therefore, they will be considered for the opening first. If none of those local Team Members are selected, then Team Members from other Tyson locations as well as external candidates will be given consideration.


Internal Candidates must have an attendance level of 6 points or less to be considered for this position and will be required to maintain this attendance level or they will be removed from this position.

Internal Candidates must not have received a written warning within the last 6 months, and no safety/core safety violations within the last 12 months.

Must be able to work extended hours (if needed) and maintain confidentiality of company information.
