General Counsel
The candidate will be responsible for advising leadership on various legal matters including contracts, real estate law, tax law, intellectual property, employee and labor relations. Responsible for the review, drafting and execution of contracts including lease agreements, vendor agreements, etc. Advise leadership on matters such as new and existing laws, legal rights, and best practices. Manages the company’s legal matters and is responsible for organization’s legal documents. Responsible to research legal matters and provide recommended course of actions; review company's litigation strategy pertaining to legal actions. Responsible for statutory filings, licensing, etc. Assist in collection of bad debt owed to the company. Act as company liaison with outside counsel regarding their assignments. Manage organization's intellectual property. Must have superior verbal and written communication skills. Should have thorough understanding of intellectual property law. Juris doctor or equivalent from an accredited law school required. Should have Active license to practice law and/or membership in state Bar. Must have 2+ years of practice with an established law firm. Must have knowledge of statutes, rules and regulations pertaining to businesses. Must have proficient understanding of business sensitivities and confidentiality. Must have sufficient knowledge and understanding of applicable laws and regulations, as well as the ability to make sound legal decisions.
