Website and Server PHP Optimization - PHP/SQL Hangs Forcing Restart of Services
Hey there!
Im in need of someone to help me optimize my website and server, specifically relating to a php/sql issue that we keep having, mainly relating to php-fpm pools not clearing out and forcing us to restart php and mysql on one domain. The attached image shows all of the pools staying open with little load on the 12 core server. It causes the website to hang and not respond. If we restart the php and sql services all is good again. It usually happens once or twice a day, not always directly related to something were doing or traffic. The site is admittedly large (almost 4,000 posts and 5,900 items in the media library). I have root access to the server and can provide access; however, I want to know about all of the changes that will be made before they are made.
Ideas that I think need considered (but I know just enough to be dangerous):
How the pools are created and maintained (dynamic vs set) - See * below

Site Health Status Issues
*An active PHP session was detected
Performance
A PHP session was created by a session_start() function call. This interferes with REST API and loopback requests. The session should be closed by session_write_close() before making any HTTP requests.
The REST API encountered an error
Performance
The REST API is one way WordPress, and other applications, communicate with the server. One example is the block editor screen, which relies on this to display, and save, your posts and pages.
The REST API request failed due to an error.
Error: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed)
Your site could not complete a loopback request
Performance
Loopback requests are used to run scheduled events, and are also used by the built-in editors for themes and plugins to verify code stability.
The loopback request to your site failed, this means features relying on them are not currently working as expected.
Error: cURL error 28: Operation timed out after 10001 milliseconds with 0 bytes received (http_request_failed)
Security
Your site is running an older version of PHP (7.3.18)
Performance
PHP is the programming language used to build and maintain WordPress. Newer versions of PHP are faster and more secure, so staying up to date will help your site’s overall performance and security. The minimum recommended version of PHP is 7.4.
A scheduled event has failed
Performance
The scheduled event, snapshot_remote_file_cron, failed to run. Your site still works, but this may indicate that scheduling posts or automated updates may not work as intended.
