**In this position you will:**
Fully technically competent with respect to all routine bench responsibilities as a Medical Technologist/MLS in the laboratory.
Oversight of the technical activities of the laboratory:
Daily workflow.
Functions as the technical resource for other bench staff of the department.
Appropriate and uptodate SOPs.
Instrumentation needs (QC, maintenance schedules, performance verification).
LIS maintenance appropriate to the department.
Liaison with vendors appropriate to the department.
Participates in instrument evaluation, recommendation, and selection for department.
Coordinates technical and project assignments in the laboratory, such as researching and updating new test procedures appropriate to the service area physician/patient population.
Assures compliance with regulatory agencies:
SOPs.
Documentation consistent with accreditation requirements (CAP, JC, DOH, etc.).
Instrumentation installation validation documentation.
Organizes and coordinates orientation/training of new employees to the department:
Instrumentation.
Policies and procedures.
Workflow.
Organizes competency and proficiency testing within the department.
Generates department management reports as requested:
Workload.
Operating reports specific to the department.
Participates in appropriate QM data/activity pertinent to the department:
Data collection.
Problem recognition.
Resolution recommendation.
Solution implementation.
Willingly manage projects as assigned by the Laboratory Manager and/or Laboratory Supervisor.
Provides input to new hire selection, may be asked to assist in performance management issues, and personnel evaluations to the Laboratory Supervisor, but is not directly responsible for departmental Human Resource activities or employee relations.
**Qualifications:**
**Required qualifications for this position you will:**
Bachelor's Degree
Certification as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by ASCP or equivalent organization.
MT (ASCP) or equivalent national certification
4 years clinical laboratory experience with demonstrated technical expertise in the division for which the individual is responsible.
Experience with LIS.
