Job Details:
SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting the geneticist in the genetic analysis of pedigree and research data by running R & D summaries for data from hatchery, selection, feed conversion, dissection, and other technologies using SAS and QlikView. Assist pedigree geneticists in ratings across all selection steps. Troubleshooting hardware (tablets, touchscreens, scales, and scanners) and software issues used to collect, screen, and validate data. In order to fulfill these requirements, the candidate will need to have some familiarity with databases and programming; should be very organized and comfortable with multi-tasking; directly assisting geneticists across multiple pedigree farms. Ability to work with tight deadlines
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: Bachelor of Science degree
Experience: 2 plus years related experience.
Computer Skills: Solid understanding of statistics. Understanding of a suitable programming language along with experience in SAS and Qlikview is preferred. Some knowledge of genetic parameters is desirable. Ability to summarize data in Excel graphs and Power Point slides is required.
Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Supervisory: None.
Travel: Minimal local travel among the OK and MO pedigree farms.
Biosecurity: The jobsite is a biosecurity environment which requires showering before entering the facility and could require multiple showers during the workday. Appropriate clothing and footwear are provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry; must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, and birds). The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times; must be willing to follow the guidelines in all Cobb Farm/Hatchery Biosecurity Standards.
