Duties: Represents before the State Office of Administrative Hearings (SOAH) in matters related to the regulation of childcare licensing (CCL). Attends work on a regular schedule in accordance with Agency leave policies and performs other duties as assigned. Reviews assigned cases to assess evidence, strengths and weaknesses of case, and to formulate a strategy for the case. Prepares cases for an administrative hearing, including identification and preparation of witnesses. Researches law, drafts pleadings, conducts and responds to discovery to develop effective legal strategies and to prepare for administrative hearings. Represents agency in contested cases. Other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations, including liaison with Attorney General’s Office on Licensing enforcement cases, acting in a legal advisory capacity for licensing staff, and providing legal training to agency staff. Completes timely and thorough consultations with clients on matters such as adverse actions and background check matches.
