Director, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Duties: Work collaboratively with firm leadership and the Managing Director, Diversity, Equity + Inclusion to set the firm’s DEI strategy and to educate functional areas of the firm about that strategy. Develop and implement programs designed to foster inclusivity, eliminate hidden barriers to success, and attract, retain and advance top talent from underrepresented backgrounds. Lead and/or consult on core elements of the firm’s strategic DEI initiatives, including its Move the Needle initiative, management-led Black Antiracism Task Force, Business Unit consulting and action-planning work, core sponsorship and pipeline initiatives, education, awareness and culture change initiatives, systemic and everyday bias disruption, and other such programs and initiatives. Partner with leadership of Goodwin’s firmwide affinity groups to develop and implement annual strategic plans, request and manage annual budgets, and provide management updates. Also provide oversight and leadership to the local councils of Goodwin’s firmwide affinity groups. Develop and implement strategies to partner with key clients on DEI-related initiatives, including premier speaker events, pro bono partnerships, pipeline initiatives, roundtables, and other such programs and initiatives. Build a network of key relationships with diverse lawyers and professionals at the firm as well as internal and external DEI leaders (including leaders of DEI organizations, diverse bar-associations , client DEI teams, etc.). Attend and speak at DEI conferences and on DEI panels, and facilitate relationships between individuals at the firm and leading DEI organizations. Monitor external DEI best practices and learning and make recommendations for new initiatives to ensure that Goodwin is a leader in the DEI space. Work collaboratively with the Talent and Finance teams to develop and analyze metrics for measuring progress and effectiveness of the firm’s DEI strategy. Ensure effective management of the DEI team project plans, calendars and budgets. Supervise, train and develop junior DEI professionals.
