Assistant Director, Law Career Services
The candidate will work closely with Associate Dean and Director to develop and implement strategies for career counseling, outreach and programming services to law students and alumni, including both traditional and alternative career and professional development. Serve as lead administrator in the mock interview program. The position meets with and counsels/coaches individual law students about job search strategies and career opportunities. Engage in employer outreach to increase employment opportunities for students. The incumbent performs other duties as assigned Juris Doctor degree and bar license from any state required. 3+ years of experience in a law school career service office, judicial clerkship, law firm or other legal work setting required. Must demonstrate transferrable knowledge and skills in career services if recent employments are not directly related to the duties of the position. Demonstrated project management experience with proven ability to address diverse problems, define relevant issues, draw sound conclusions and make responsible programming decisions required. Understanding of legal education with comprehension of legal academic requirements and knowledge of best practices and current trends in various legal professions required. Ability: to read, understand and interpret laws, policies and procedures and provide appropriate and accurate guidance as well as ensure compliance; to positively represent the University and the Law School required. Strong problem solving and analytical skills; experience in interpreting data and using information to guide informed decision. Familiarity with Southern California legal employers preferred. Experience in providing advisement to students regarding career goals and assessment preferred.
