Job Summary

Responsible for directing the design, testing and research activities of future products and applications. Oversees both strategic and technical initiatives. The Emerging Wireless Technologies group within TPX is responsible for development & delivery of advanced technology strategy and solutions, leading vendor discussions evaluation and research. This role will work hand in hand with the Wireless Standards and Planning team and will be responsible for performing analysis, directing the design, testing and research activities of future products and applications. Oversees both strategic and technical initiatives.

Job Description

Core Responsibilities


Responsible for producing wireless technology solutions that satisfy business and product needs both now and for the future.
Identify priorities and communicate technology impacts throughout the decision-making process.
Forecast, plan, research and select new technologies enabling companies to attain business goals.
Engages with multiple vendor personnel regarding new services and features required of 5G NFs.
Collaborate, document and present analysis and results to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders.
Directs research of new technology areas. Analyzes and evaluates changes in technology and defines current and future departmental objectives.
Uses relationships with industry partners to keep current with technological developments within the industry, develops new standards, monitors, and evaluates competitive applications and products.
Leads the initial development and architecture of designs for future products and applications that best support the Company's technology and engineering roadmap.
Drives design and development strategies across platforms, teams and third parties. Evaluates solutions presented to the company by various partners and vendors. Oversees case studies, testing and reporting.
Forecasts project estimates, resource needs, timelines and oversees schedules of product releases and project timetables.
Schedules and moderates periodic meetings with staff to review recent developments and plan/prioritize future activities.
Presents concepts and technical information in common terms to end user(s).
Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.


Background/Experience:


Good awareness of new technologies, including Private Networks, MOCN, Slicing and Edge and SDN architectures.
Solid understanding of 4G and 5G technologies, specifically 5G Core, 3GPP, GSMA.
Understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as HTTP, DNS, SRV6, TCP/IP, ICMP and load balancing.
Good IP knowledge and routing protocol, IPv6, TCP/IP, UDP, OSPF, VLAN, IPSec, NAT, IP forwarding.
Demonstrated ability in cellular and wireless deployments (15 years experience)
Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering preferred
