We have an existing Site Search that needs to be updated on our site since it was poorly designed and the old database now longer exists. Therefore, it would involve creating a site search and searching our internal databases, as well as text of word documents on our site that are being displayed via SharePoint. This project is in web forms/asp.net (C#) and uses the three-tried architecture with stored procedures.
Here, the user would perform a search on our site and the results would appear on a page. The search system has to search our db tables because website text is stored in a table and separated by language for localization issues. This means the appropriate search results have to appear. If the search results items, they are broken into multiple categories, such as General, Videos, Events, Forum, Knowledge Base, and Documents. The search results are highlighted based upon their search criteria. Documents are shown on our site via Box Viewer and those documents come from SharePoint; as such, the system has to search the text of the documents, as within a particular folder in SharePoint. If a document appears in the search results, the user can click it and it is viewed in Box Viewer.
