What is the Human Centered Design (HCD) Team?

We are constantly fostering the innovation and the implementation of cutting-edge technologies while building high-performance and scalable solutions. The Human Centered Design (HCD) team’s mission is to investigate and understand the human need at the core of business challenges and advocate for the end-user as we apply new technologies across Tyson. As the leader of HCD you will be applying design thinking methods inside a well-established enterprise, where users can be the C-suite, Delivery Drivers, Cattle Ranchers, or Plant Team Members. If you enjoy working in a rapidly changing environment, leading a team of Researchers and Designers, and influencing the strategic direction of a large global organization, this position will provide you with that opportunity.

Tyson Foods Tech Team is seeking a qualified leader for our IT Human Centered Design team in our Northwest Arkansas office. The ideal candidate is a creative, demonstrated leader with superior leadership and technical abilities. This opportunity requires excellent problem-solving and communication skills. Key focus areas will be gaining key insights to shape concepts, collaborating with Business and IT Team Members on new concepts, designing working prototypes, and participating in design workshops. Looking for someone who has a passion for leading user research and design with a focus on Human Centered Design mindset.

Do you have the leadership qualifications?


Experience in formalizing and leading a design research strategy for project requests, including resource planning, sign-off, timeline, and adherence to standards/artifacts.
Strong track record in building, developing, and operating a team of Researchers and Designers to successfully drive design for cross-functional projects.
Stay apprised of new solutions and strategies in the market and lead the team with the right tools and architecture based on the latest open-source technologies.
Actively develop people, teams, and self. Inspire a high level of commitment and performance. Help others become more effective through clear expectations, encouragement, and coaching. Create a culture of respect where diversity and inclusiveness are valued in guidelines with the Tyson 5C’s.

Do you have the differentiating skills and experience?

Required Skills:


Proven ability to lead a team of researchers and designers to meet project deliverables around resource planning, research and discovery sessions, design workshops, and development of artifacts such as videos, mood boards, landscape diagrams, personas, user journeys, etc.
Proven ability to effectively communicate research insights, solution concepts, and design decisions to stakeholders, both visually and verbally.
Lead and drive outreach activities to expand design competence across Tyson.
Champions the human experience in their work by validating the experience and effort of existing users and stakeholders that represents their needs through design. You will be the voice of the user and stakeholder, throughout the project from research to development.
Proficiency in applying Agile practices/methodologies in leading initiatives and participating in projects.
Experience with tools to aid in the research and design process such as Adobe Creative Cloud, Mural, Microsoft Office Suite, Jira


Requirements


Education: BA or BS degree in User Experience Design, Product Management, Graphic Design, or other related discipline. Equivalent experience may be acceptable
Experience: At least 5 to 7 years of experience in leading a team to deliver Human Centered Design, Design Thinking, and/or Design Research and Strategy for transformational projects.
