Associate University Counsel
The candidate works under the general oversight and direction of senior members of the Office of University Counsel. Performs legal work as assigned, with a primary concentration in the areas of legal advice and counsel on transactions involving the University’s research agreements and collaborations. Scope of issues primarily includes research agreements, clinical trial agreements, ancillary agreements (e.g., data use, material transfer, confidentiality). Advises administrative and academic units of the University that support research and entrepreneurial activities of the University (e.g., Institutional Review Board). Prepares, reviews, and assists in the negotiation of contracts as requested by institution officers. Reviews and comments on legislative and regulatory proposals concerning research, procurement matters, and University development and entrepreneurial activities. Participates in and advises the University concerning negotiation of transactions. As assigned, works with institutional committees and work groups addressing research matters, development and entrepreneurial projects, collaborations, and other issues.
