Qualifications
JOB SUMMARY:
The Assistant Director of Assessment and Referrals (ARC) provides supervisory oversight to the ARC Department. The Assistant Director of ARC assigns responsibilities to assure the orderly admission of patients to the hospital and is required to maintain communication with referral sources, families, patients, and unit staff. The Assistant. Director of ARC is responsible for daily census reconciliation, insurance verification as well as the accurate daily tracking of admissions, discharges, transfers and physician coverage/caseloads both manually and in AS400 and other relevant computer applications. The Assistant Director of ARC also serves as telephonic back up to the ARC Department by scheduling assessment appointments and fielding referrals from other facilities during high call volume times. The Assistant Director of ARC will act as a backup to the Director of ARC in times of absence. This includes reporting to Senior Leadership and Corporate Departments on a timely basis.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to demonstrate competency in the criteria listed in this job description. The specifications listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability to meet the minimum requirements for this position. Staff must demonstrate knowledge and skill in both manual documentation and computer data entry of insurance, patient and admission information as well as census tracking.
Education
BSN required, MSN preferred, Psychiatric certification is a plus
Experience:
At least three years admissions and behavioral health preferred. Previous supervisory experience preferred.
Licensure/Certification:
Prefer clinical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
Knowledge:
Prefer knowledge of admissions or billing while working in behavioral healthcare including DSM IV coding and hospital information systems. Must have strong supervisory skills; good telephone, written and oral communication skills; legible handwriting; ability to concentrate on tasks in high traffic area; maintain information in the highest confidence; meet deadlines; good organization and priority setting skills; preferred basic data entry skills; strong customer service skills; empathy; and attention to detail.
