Description

The Actuary, General provides actuarial support across a broad range of actuarial and business needs for specific product lines. The Actuary, General works on problems of diverse scope and complexity ranging from moderate to substantial.

Responsibilities

The Actuary, General may be responsible for any combination of valuation, pricing, analytics, forecasting, risk, compliance, and operations. Advises executives to develop functional strategies (often segment specific) on matters of significance. Exercises independent judgment and decision making on complex issues regarding job duties and related tasks, and works under minimal supervision, Uses independent judgment requiring analysis of variable factors and determining the best course of action.

Scope and Responsibilities:


Collaborate with internal and external business partners to identify and quantify the adequacy of Medicaid capitation rates
Lead Medicaid rate review, analysis of rate change impact, and development of rate advocacy topics for 1-2 State Medicaid programs
Assist the Medicaid Markets with ad-hoc requests pertaining to the financial performance of Humana's Medicaid business
Conduct experience studies for assigned Medicaid markets
Serve as an active contributor during Health Plan Association meetings
Manage one direct report


Required Qualifications


Bachelor's Degree
FSA or ASA plus relevant advanced degree, recent and relevant work experience, and/or other relevant professional designations
MAAA
Demonstrated ability to present to market leadership
Experience in more than two functions (e.g., modeling, pricing, rate filing, reporting & analysis, reserving or trending)
8 or more years of experience with data manipulation and modeling
2 or more years of project leadership experience
Must be passionate about contributing to an organization focused on continuously improving consumer experiences


Preferred Qualifications


Experience with SAS
Medicaid experience
