Health Law Staff Attorney
The candidate will provide legal advocacy services to Health Law Clinic clients and other related duties pursuant to grants and contracts. Conducts client intake, as necessary. Expedites hospice client intake. Supervises law student interns at client meetings. Confers with and assists clinic students and Director in providing direct representation, counseling, technical assistance, referrals and advice to Health Law Clinic clients and partner agencies. Provides direct client representation. Performs legal research as needed. Collaborates with community and state-wide partners on joint initiatives designed to advance Project’s goals. Works closely with community partners who provide referrals to clinic. Creates presentations to community partners to provide education on legal issues. Assists with drafting reports concerning grant activities. Performs other duties as assigned by the Director of the Health Law Clinic.Should have excellent organizational and time management skills. Excellent lawyering skills, specifically-client counseling and oral advocacy. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent legal research skills and analysis. Strong attention to detail. Demonstrated ability using Microsoft Office Suite products, Lexis and Westlaw. Should have Juris Doctor from an ABA approved law school. Should have Admission to the New York Bar.2+ years of practical legal experience in the area of Health Law and familiarity with New York Family Court practice preferred.
