Johnston, Iowa (Des Moines Area) | Full-Time | In-Office

Thriving Boutique Practice | New Johnston, IA Office | Run the Office from Day One

**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is opening a new office in Johnston, IA and looking for the person who will keep it running. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment, love helping people, and can see the big picture while managing the details, we'd love to meet you.

Based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, our legal team has substantial experience planning for families, business owners, farmers, high-net-worth individuals, and seniors. Clients know us for sophisticated legal counsel and for responsive, empathetic, approachable service that makes complex legal and financial concepts understandable.

Our practice is fast-paced. We don't have quiet days, and we row hard as a team. We Get Stuff Done, support each other, and still prioritize quality of life outside of work, which shows in our benefits and schedule. Our growth and strong reputation come from exceptional client service and loyal teamwork.

About the Role

You will be the first person clients see and the one who keeps the Johnston office running. The role combines front desk reception, scheduling, and client file management with day-to-day office operations: handling deposits and assigned financial tasks, managing building and vendor needs, and coordinating technology with the firm's IT provider.

You'll own how the Johnston office runs and work closely with our Sioux Falls team every day, following established firm procedures so both offices run the same way.

Key Responsibilities

  • Answer phones, manage incoming communication, and greet clients and visitors professionally.

  • Schedule appointments across attorney and team calendars, send confirmations, and coordinate client follow-up.

  • Create and maintain accurate client files and records, including data entry and document scanning.

  • Handle check and cash deposits and other assigned financial and office support functions.

  • Track office expenses and supplies, and support budgeting and financial reporting for the Johnston office.

  • Serve as the main contact for building management, maintenance, repairs, and outside vendors.

  • Work with the firm's IT provider to keep data secure and systems running and oversee upkeep of the firm's CRM database.

  • Coordinate office and client events and lead or assist with special projects.

  • Keep systems and work synchronized between the Johnston and Sioux Falls teams.

Required:

  • 3+ years of experience managing office operations, client services, or operations or retail management.

  • Experience coordinating office functions, supporting clients, and managing competing priorities.

  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Zoom, and the ability to learn CRM systems.

  • Strong attention to detail and discretion with sensitive financial and client information.

  • Ownership, follow-through, and accountability for results.

  • Composure and a positive attitude through busy days and frequent interruptions.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Be the go-to person in a brand-new office, with a real hand in how it runs.

  • Variety every day across client service, operations, finance, and technology.

  • A boutique practice focused exclusively on estate planning, elder law, and business planning.

  • A collaborative, upbeat team across two offices where people genuinely enjoy working together.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Salary: $65,000 to $80,000, commensurate with experience.

  • Yearly performance bonus.

  • Firm-paid employee premium on the Wellmark HDHP with HSA (PPO available); Aflac dental and VSP vision.

  • 401(k) through Edward Jones with a 3% employer contribution after one year.

  • Long-term disability through Northwestern Mutual and a dependent care FSA.

  • 15 days of PTO per year, 10 paid holidays, 2 floating holidays, and your birthday afternoon off.
