Qualified candidates will perform database development/maintenance, query development/maintenance and development of SW applications that use databases.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
As a fully contributing team member, Influences work group and cross-functional team members, and interacts where input and suggestions are provided.
Works beyond routine nature of tasks utilizing specialized knowledge and technologies.
Troubleshoots basic problems and recommends appropriate action.
Uses and applies principles, concepts and techniques of Database Administration, Development and SW Applications Development.
Relational Database Tasks
o Comfortable working with complex schemas/data sets which have many rules and exceptions to said rules
o Excellent PL/SQL query and stored procedure development skills
Programming Tasks
o C# development for software that use databases
o Write data analysis or processing routines that parse through complex data sets and extract or repackage data using PL/SQL queries and stored procedures
Data Analysis Tasks
o Experience working with (non-SW) engineers to understand needs/requirements and effectively translate into data analysis
o Assist users in running data analysis tools and/or fixing data quality issues
o Understand data domain which has many rules and exceptions to those rules to assist users in analyzing that data.
o Follow SW development process – document requirements, queries and designs
o Gather requirements and train users of greatly varying technical abilities in a way that allows users needs to be met
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge required to perform at this level is generally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s degree in the area of Computer Science or Business. This knowledge is typically gained through 4 to 8 years of experience.
Requires proficiency in object engineering and applications development using object oriented (OO) tools C#, C .
Must have a minimum of 2 years in C# software applications development.
Minimum of 5 years in software development overall, which could be made up of experience in C or Java.
Must have a minimum of 5 years of varied experience in writing complex queries against databases.
Experience with large, partitioned databases/data warehouses.
Must have experience in a database procedural language (PL/SQL or T-SQL). Preferably, this would be on Oracle.
Must have experience in writing data analysis or processing routines that parse through complex data sets and extract or repackage data.
Must have experience with working with clients or analysts directly to define data extraction and analysis requirements, and with assisting them in running data analysis tools and/or fixing data quality issues.
Must be willing and able to understand data domain which has many rules and exceptions to those rules, and to assist users in analyzing that data.
Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Must have the ability to deal with users of greatly varying technical abilities in a way that allows users need to be met in a professional manner.
Requires team-oriented attitude and vision.
Analyzing (scientific specifications), modeling, designing, documenting, constructing and testing reusable classes of objects.
Functional testing and debugging of objects, which may support domain functionality (i.e., procedures), domain graphical interface functionality, common data types, or utilities for communication, peripherals, etc.
Working with object-oriented systems composed of objects that communicate with one another using explicitly defined interfaces, and OO methodologies which may include OMT and UML.
Experience developing an interface with 3rd party COTs products
