And so it came to pass, that a great opportunity did present itself to the people of the east metro of the Twin Cities. For lo, there was a contract to hire position, nay, a hybrid role, that did require three days in the office and two days remote. And it did come to pass that this role was not of the senior level, but rather an associate to mid-level role.
And yet, the role did offer much promise, for it was with one of the great multi-brand organizations, having been established for over 100 years. Verily, their reputation preceded them, as they were known for being nice folks, for those who preferred such things.
The Endpoint Engineer, also known as the Technical Analyst 2, did provide systems engineering support to develop, maintain, support, and optimize the organization's technology infrastructure, including outsourced services. And it was required of them to provide production support to resolve system issues, while ensuring that solutions meet capacity requirements.
Lo, their focus was on end user and end point management, including OS deployment, patch management, and mobile device management. And it was important, for the role was open due to a promotion, and the ability to access data in all systems, specifically the new ERP system, would be impacted.
And thus, the people of the IT teams did work together with the Endpoint Engineer to ensure that critical infrastructure was maintained, supported, and optimized, so that the business could function effectively. For if the systems were not patched in a timely manner, there would be an elevated risk of Cyber Security issues. And so it was written, these were the required hard skills:
- SCCM
- InTune
- Creation and deployment of policies
- OS deployment
- Patch Management
- Mobile Device Management
- Endpoint/PC Management (PCs and Macs), Win10/11, MacOS
- PowerShell
And yea, though it was preferred for the Endpoint Engineer to have a combination of education and work experience, typically equivalent to a Bachelors degree or Technical School diploma, plus 3 to 5 years of experience in specified technical areas. And they should have experience with SCCM and InTune, and should have experience scripting with PowerShell.
And it was required of them to have experience in at least one technology field, such as server, network, data communications, telecommunications, client technology, and/or outsourced (XaaS) services. Verily, they should have effective project management skills, and be able to perform systems administration within a large-scale hybrid (on-prem and cloud-based) multi-server, multi-location, Microsoft client/server network running Windows and supporting a thousand Client Technology devices.
And so it was, that the Endpoint Engineer did fulfill their role, and the people of the organization were content, and the business did thrive.
