Distribution Studies and Planning Engineer
POWER Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Distribution Studies and Planning Engineer for the Power Delivery Distribution Department in our Boise, Idaho office.
Roles and Responsibilities
The qualified candidate will be responsible for the performance of electrical studies and planning of utility electrical distribution systems, including: Distribution System Planning Studies including construction work plans and long range plans
Real and Reactive Power Flow Studies
Voltage Drop Studies
Coordination and Sectionalizing Studies
Arc Flash Studies
The ability to interact with a wide variety of people to obtain the required information needed for performance of electrical distribution system studies
Prepare system study reports and perform quality reviews of project deliverables
Track project schedules and budgets
Some travel should be expected
Required Education/Experience
A BSEE degree
Power systems focus or relevant power industry internship experience
Understanding of basic engineering theories and principles, including understanding of basic practices of researching engineering and design issues, evaluating alternatives, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations
Ability to work in design teams, is self-motivated to perform assigned tasks, and take the initiative to learn new topics
Must have strong command of English language; experience and demonstrated written and oral communications skills, including the ability to present information, facilitate meetings and provide direction to others
Must be able to successfully pass client's background screening process
Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record
Desired Education/Experience
EIT with the ability to obtain PE when experience requirements are met
Exposure to Electrical Power System Analysis using one of the following software packages – CYME, Milsoft, or Synergi
Two (2) years of experience in the electrical power delivery industry
Experience with utility standards and overhead/underground distribution design
Experience with the integration of distributed generation within the planning process
