We’re hiring a Head of Product Design & Research to help lead the way.
We’re far from a typical security company. We believe that to be effective in protecting hundreds of millions of people, security needs to be empathetic and usable by normal people while also able to defend against determined attackers. Existing security companies have failed to deliver.
It won’t be easy to achieve our goals. We’re both a consumer and an enterprise company, which presents a diverse set of challenges. How do we build products that are extremely sophisticated and effective yet easy to use? How do we stay out of our users’ way, but make sure they know we’re there, working hard on their behalf? How do we build enterprise products that satisfy the security needs of the largest businesses in the world while also doing right by their employees? Within these constraints, we’ll ship great design.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll lead design & research at Lookout, which means working with product, engineering, sales, and marketing to make sure we deliver high-quality value to our customers and build our brand as the leading mobile security company in the world. We see design as not only a partner in delivering products, but also helping to decide how we drive the company forward to better protect our customers. Here at Lookout, design & research are extremely embedded in our product development process, involved in everything from ideation, roadmap creation, execution, validation, iteration and optimization.
We have an extremely talented design & research team today and we’re looking for someone who can help grow the team, serve as a mentor, own high-level strategic design projects, and be the champion for design, user research, and design thinking at all levels of the company. In short, we’re looking for a leader to lead design & research but also have a large impact on all areas of the company, helping shape our culture as we embark on our next stage of growth.
Your Profile
Building and leading extraordinary design and research teams with honesty, empathy, passion, and practicality
Shipping products imbued with good design aesthetically, behaviorally, and emotionally
Advocate for design principles and what is right for our customers throughout the company
Working cross functionally as a partner to product, engineering, marketing, and sales
Participating in all aspects of the product development and go to market process, not just in a “design phase”
Deeply understanding technology and the constraints you have to work with
Strong communication, collaboration skills in the remote work environment
