Fitness App: First Try Fitness
Main points:
1. Simple. Simple. Simple. The app is meant to be easy which means it takes only 3 seconds maximum to open. 20 seconds maximum to sign up (depending on user typing speed). The Feed is easy to scroll through (up/down and side/side).
2. This is Goal Oriented Social media Fitness app and must revolve around the goals of the main users
3. The user will never pay for anything on the app. There may be payments made to coaches through the app but never to the app for premium services or anything similar.
The Goal:
Create a platform that solves the problem of lacking motivation to work out through a Goal Oriented Social Media Fitness company. This is done through connecting people with common exercise goals.
The goal with making this app is to solve the problem of lacking motivation to work out through connecting people with common exercise goals. Upon the initial log in the user is prompted with the typical Facebook, Apple, Google, and email prompts to create an account after this (on the next screen) the user is prompted to select from a drop down list what their goals are. One drop down list is the exercise (ie biking, running, lifting, yoga, etc.) the second is the numerical value associated with this goal (ie miles, minutes in pose, minutes per week) and the third is a the time duration in which they would like to complete this goal. The user fills this out for a short term goal (2-8 weeks), mid-range goal (2-12 months) long term goal (6-12 months).
Based on the users goals they then are put into a community with other people sharing at least one of their goals. Each community develops a feed, (similar to a social media feed) where user data is automatically pulled from Apple Health, Garmin Connect, and other health tracking apps. As the user scrolls through the his feed one will be able to see how many goals they have in common with the other users who posted. In addition the user has the option to add a photo or caption to the exercise, or make a separate post consisting of just text, just a photo, or text and a photo. These automatic fitness tracking posts and optional additional posts by users make up a thread. There are Three threads the user can access by swiping left or right from each thread they are the community thread (thread generated from those in the same community as determined by their common goals), the friends thread (as determined by connecting with friends in the app. Friends are suggested through Facebook, and users contacts), and the interests thread (which are generated from users following certain hashtags used in posts).
There are two different log in types to this app. One is users who access the app to input goals and are the main target of the app, the other is a coach which users have access of contacting through the app and making payments through the app to them as they well. Coaches develop training plans, give nutrition advice, and other coaching help. The training plans can be uploaded as pdf by the coach or generated in a notes type sheet within the app. The app will use an algorithm to rank the coaches based on the number of athletes they have/had (weighted 30%), and the success of their athletes which is determined by their athletes goal and the final outcome as reported by that athlete as to how close they came to achieving this goal (70%)
