Edit Author URL in WordPress
*** READ THIS FIRST ***
How to work with us:
- We DO NOT respond to auto-bidding software or bids. IF YOU DID NOT READ THE BRIEF, YOU WILL BE DELETED AND BLOCKED.
- In your response, include the word SONGMAKER at the top to let us know you have read through this listing completely. If you do not, you will be blocked.
- Be available immediately to chat about project details (we move FAST; we need someone whos available and ready to work immediately)
- Have your own testing environment to work on the software. Software is given AFTER your bid is accepted, but you need YOUR OWN server to install and test. We will NOT provide a testing environment.
- the FIRST time you miss a deadline or do not communicate to us the status of the project, we will initiate a dispute to recover our assets. If you are a person who doesnt communicate well, bypass this project.
- We expect you to KNOW what you are doing and what you are explaining; if we have to explain simple things to you, you will be eliminated very quickly and/or cancel the project.
- Please supply RELEVANT experience to the specific project you respond to
- Ask any questions that you may have.
--- PROJECT DETAILS ---
We use the PublishPress Authors plugin. It allows you to assign a URL to a guest author, but it rewrites the URL into a specific format. We want to change this so that whatever URL is placed in the user-specified field in the backend is the URL that is used by the system on the frontend. THIS INCLUDES ANY SLASHES (/) OR DASHES THAT ARE PRESENT IN THE URL.
Example: Lets say your site is domain.com. Using the plugin mentioned above, it will allow you to specify the text that appears as the URL for a Gust Author link. The plugin has a field where you enter the text you want to use as your customized URL (this is called the Author URL). HOWEVER, the plugin will add /author/ BEFORE your customized text will appear. Please see below
[login to view URL]
What we want to do is REMOVE the /author/ part of the link, so that it appears like this:
ALSO, we want to make it so that we can use slashes in our customURL. For instance, if we wanted to use this as the Author URL:
CustomURL/more info
Then the final URL would appear as this:
Right now when we type CustomURL/more info into the Author URL field, it changes the slashes (/) into dashes (-). WE DONT WANT THAT. We want to be able to input slashes and have the plugin use what we type in.
So, again this is what we want to do:
- use the PublishPress Authors plugin
- type whatever wed like into the Author URL field
- force the plugin to NOT add the /author/ part to the end of the URL
- force the plugin to allow the use of slashes (/) in the Author URL
The plugin can be found here: [login to view URL]
Its a SUPER SIMPLE project that probably could take 10 minutes to someone who knows this stuff inside and out.
