Job Details:
Location: Tennessee Pedigree Complex, Deer Lodge, TN
Schedule: Monday through Friday, including holidays.
Hours: 6:00am daily with job typical of a 40 hour work.
Work schedule is subject to change based upon production needs.
Position Summary:
This position attends to and addresses the biosecurity on the farm by controlling rodent, insect, bird & other pest populations that pose a Biosecurity risk to the farm. Other duties may be assigned.
Successful applicants for this position must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of employment. Vaccine verification will be required by November 1, 2021 for Plant based team members.
Applicants with previous agricultural or production experience will be considered preferred.
Temporary starting wage: $15.00
Full Time Starting Wage: $15.45
Plus additional shift differential for evenings, nights and weekends

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The application of chemical solutions and placing rodent and other baits in and around buildings to control rodent, insect, bird and other pest populations; reads instructions of, computes ratios of, and records amount of pesticides used (50%)
These install mechanical barriers and sets traps to deter or exterminate rodents, insects, birds, and other pests in and around the poultry houses, surrounding buildings, and surrounding areas (20%)
These keep vegetation on the farm cut or otherwise controlled in accordance with the R&D Farm Biosecurity Standards. (10%)
These attend Biosecuirty Task Force meetings once a month and keep up monthly paperwork (10%)
Other Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities:
These may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice, such as: Maintain and assist with housekeeping standards in the working areas; inspect birds to determine quality and progress by weighing birds weekly; sanitation of storage areas, breakroom, boot rooms, equipment, and vehicles, cleaning incinerators; moving birds, grounds-keeping and organizing breeder tags; properly euthanize selected or weak/ill birds in accordance with company policy; collect swab samples; clean, disinfect, and haul coops; maintain foot bath, hand sanitizer, hydro-foamer, sweep, mop, and other general cleaning (10%)
Biosecurity Requirements/Animal Welfare Requirements:
The jobsite is a biosecure environment which requires showering, changing clothing and footwear before entering the facility. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsite except for medical ID jewelry and body piercings covered by appropriate clothing. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species (chickens, ducks, birds, etc.). Must be willing to sign and abide by the Company Biosecurity and Company Animal Welfare Guidelines.
Addendum to Job Descriptions for Source Control and Essential Functions
During the current Pandemic (2020), all Team Members will be required to wear company issued facial coverings. Training will be provided to each Team Member specific to their job and their facility location in addition to signing an acknowledgement form they understand these expectations.
It is considered an essential function of each job for a Team Member to wear the company issued facial coverings. If a Team Member indicates they will not wear the mask, they will not be considered for the position in which they are applying or any position that requires the facial covering. If a Team Member has a medical condition or disability that prevents them from wearing the mask, Cobb will engage in a interactive process to determine whether a reasonable accommodation can be provided that addresses the safety concerns associated with the Pandemic and allow the Team Member to perform the essential functions of the job.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
Physical: Must use safe lifting techniques. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and may be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds at times. Must push/pull dollies weighing up to 2000 pounds such as skids of supplies. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop; climbing/ladder usage, talk or hear; and drive a vehicle within the farm complex. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision; distance vision; color vision; peripheral vision; depth perception; and the ability to adjust focus.
Environment: Required to work on wet, slippery surfaces and also in hot, dry, dusty, wet and cold environments.
Personal Protective Equipment Required: Safety glasses, safety goggles, hard hat, face shield, chemical gloves, waterproof apron, and rubber boots are required. Ear plugs will be used as needed. NIOSH approved N95 particulate respirators will be worn as needed.
Chemicals Commonly Used: Farmphene, Synergize, Virkon, among others.
Safety: TM is expected to follow all applicable safety policies and procedures. These include but are not limited to Hazard Communication, Respiratory Protection, LOTO and Personal Protective Equipment. TM is expected to identify, address and mitigate safety related risks.
