Job Description:

Company description

As a global energy company operating in a challenging world, we set high standards of performance and ethical behaviors. We are judged by how we act and how we live up to our core values of honesty, integrity, and respect for people. Our Business Principles are based on these. They promote trust, openness, teamwork, and professionalism, as well as pride in what we do and how we conduct business.

Building on our core values, we aspire to sustain a diverse and inclusive culture where everyone feels respected and valued, from our employees to our customers and partners. A diverse workforce and an inclusive work environment are vital to our success, leading to greater innovation and better energy solutions.

An innovative place to work

There’s never been a more exciting time to work at Shell. Everyone here is helping solve one of the biggest challenges facing the world today: bringing the benefits of energy to everyone on the planet, whilst managing the risks of climate change.

Shell Trading & Supply (T&S) is one of the largest energy trading organizations in the world with key hubs in Houston, London, Singapore, Dubai and Rotterdam. T&S supports the Shell Group through trading power, environmental products, biofuels, LNG, chemical feedstocks, crude oil, refined products and freight in trading hubs all over the world. T&S is active in most energy markets across the globe, sourcing from a wide range of suppliers and selling to a wide range of customers, both internally and externally to Shell.

T&S entities operate in a highly complex regulatory and legal environment and are subject to regulatory oversight by multiple government authorities such as the US Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), as well as other governmental entities across the world. There continues to be substantial change in applicable regulations and it is imperative that T&S complies with all laws, rules, and regulations that it is subject to.

Join us and you’ll add your talent and imagination to the compliance function supporting a business with the power to shape the future – whether by investing in renewables, exploring new ways to store energy or developing technology that helps the world to use energy more efficiently.

A rewarding place to work

Combine our creative, collaborative environment and global operations with an impressive range of benefits and joining Shell becomes an inspired career choice.

We’re huge advocates for career development. We’ll encourage you to try new roles and experience new settings. By pushing people to reach their potential, we frequently help them find skills they never knew they had, or make career moves they never thought possible.

The Specialist Compliance Regulatory Reporting is responsible for:

Supporting the Senior Specialist Compliance Regulatory Reporting to execute T&S’s ongoing regulatory reporting obligations, ensuring that T&S remains compliant with the reporting requirements under the:
Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act;
Canadian Derivatives Reform Act (jointly referred to as ‘Dodd-Frank’ requirements or obligations); and
National Futures Association Regulatory Requirements.
Submitting and analyzing reports, monitoring alerts, and ensuring timely submission to fulfil T&S’s regulatory reporting obligations.
Understanding the logic and the mechanics behind the reports, including how updating a table behind the reports impacts the output.
Supporting the embedding of the new operating model and ways of working for the RRT.
Supporting the maintenance and improvement of RRT processes and controls, inputting into enhancement and automation initiatives where relevant.
Supporting RRT Analysts by providing daily advice and guidance in relation to their ongoing execution of business-as-usual activities.

The Specialist Compliance Regulatory Reporting is expected to:

Support the continuous improvement of RRT processes.
Identify, remediate, and escalate to T&S senior management any reporting errors within required timeframes, providing advice on their correct resolution.
Execute ongoing submission of regulatory reports, providing guidance and support for the RRT Analysts, determining when appropriate to seek further advice from the Senior Specialist Compliance Regulatory Reporting and T&S senior management or other experts on approvals, decisions, or appropriate next steps.
Execute regulatory reporting of errors as required, in liaison with the Regulation team and other experts across T&S.
Analyze complex business scenarios in the regulatory reporting space, undertaking a root cause analysis approach, identifying, and evaluating links and patterns.
Develop a range of practical solutions to business problems applying both regulatory and technology lenses to develop the best approach.
