Job Title:

Patent Attorney - Houston, TX

No. of Positions:

1

Job Description:

The new Legal Services Intellectual Property (LSIP) Integrated Gas (IG) and New Energies (NE) Patent Attorney will be located in Houston and contribute to the global LSIP IG & NE team led by the Associate General Counsel (“AGC”) LSIP IG & NE. She or he will primarily support the Shell NE Business and Projects and Technology Directorate in executing the NE business strategy, by providing IP subject matter expertise, including legal and strategic advice on IP creation, protection, use and exploitation for the benefit of Shell. Given the mandate of the LSIP IG NE team, this patent attorney will, from time to time, also support the PT Directorate in executing the IG business strategy.

Legal Services Intellectual Property IG & NE (“LSIP IG&NE”) is a part of the Shell Legal Department and provides Intellectual Property (“IP”) subject matter expertise to the dynamic, fast-paced and growing Shell New Energies business as well as to the Shell business lawyers who directly support that business. LSIP IG&NE also partners with Shell’s Projects & Technology (P&T) Directorate in its technical support of the NE business – including NE-related long range research technology development and collaborations.

Shell’s NE business was created in 2016 to help achieve its strategic ambitions: a world class investment case, to thrive during the energy transition and to earn a strong societal license to operate. With an entrepreneurial lens and through inorganic and organic growth, NE looks to integrate Shell’s own technical and commercial expertise, know-how and existing partnerships with that of new partners from a variety of industries to create new business and operating models for the future. If the right projects are available, Shell will invest up to $2 US B annually in its NE business until 2022 and will focus on new fuels for transport, including advanced biofuels, hydrogen and charging for electric vehicles; and power, including from wind, solar and natural gas.
