Machine Operator - Manufacturing – Full Time – Newbern, TN 38059 (KP Maintenance Operator/Log Formulation)

This position starts at $15.65/hr. with a shift increase for second and third shift and potential for overtime. We have open positions for first shift.

POSITION SUMMARY:


Responsible for setting up equipment in preparation for startup, and responsible for the running the KP machines, while also adhering to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.

RESPONSIBILITIES:



Set up equipment in preparation for startup, and responsible for the running the KP machines, while also adhering to good safety practices, food safety policies, and company policies.

Set up V-Mag stuffer/grinder and KP machines.

Move empty racks into position for loading and loading logs onto racks.

Send out correct diameters of slicing logs to freezer.

Chang film as needed.

Identify and stripping out defective logs.

Drain water from bottom of KP and inspecting equipment.

Set up and breaking down grinders.

Record condition of grinder plates on grinder inspection sheets and turning in to lead/supervisor.

Inform QA and Production Supervisor in the event of issues with equipment/grinder or raw materials.

Informs and assists Maintenance persons in identifying and correcting problems with machines.

Performs PM’s on equipment in assigned Department.


REQUIREMENTS:


Monitor production area for trash and food debris on floor.

Perform various other tasks as assigned by Leadperson, Supervisor or Superintendent.

All employees are responsible for upholding the principals of SQF 2000.

Must have strong written and oral communication skills.

Must be willing and able to communicate effectively with company employees at all levels of management.

Must be willing and able to work on and around machinery and chemicals.

Must be willing and able to become certified in Tyson Foods LOTO and to operate a forklift and pallet jack.

Must be willing and able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds.

Must be willing and able to perform the following task for periods of 8 hours on concrete floor, some of which may include but is not limited to standing, stooping, walking, climbing, and lifting.

Must be willing and able to work in temperatures less than or equal to 35 degrees Fahrenheit temperature for minimum of 8 hours.

Internal: Must not have more than 5 attendance occurrences. Must not have a disciplinary suspension on file in the past 6 months. Must be in your current position for a minimum of six (6) months unless this job is a higher class than you currently hold.

Internal/External: *Must have a minimum of 6 months cumulative industrial maintenance experience or equivalent training. *If the TM awarded this position reaches 5 attendance occurrences while holding this position, they will be automatically disqualified from their position and will be moved to labor pool within the department. They will then have 60 days in which to bid out of Labor Pool.
