Legal Counsel - Intellectual Property
Duties: Analyze inventions, new products and process innovations for comparison to competitive patents and prior art to determine right to use ‘clearance’ and non-infringement opinions. Interpret and create patent landscapes and analytics in new technology areas. Analyze inventions and processes with inventors to maximize scope of patent protection. Manage patent prosecution, both U.S. and global, including coordination with outside counsel. Analyze relationships with suppliers and customers as to IP issues and provide course of action guidance to technical and commercial managers. Negotiate / draft non-disclosure, collaboration, technical services, engineering, joint development, licenses and real estate sales / lease agreements. Provide IP expertise to licensing and M&A groups; provide IP litigation support. Advise management on other IP rights, e.g. designs, trademarks and trade secrets. Conduct IP and contract training seminars for sales, engineering and manufacturing personnel. Provide support and advise company on technical/legal issues.
