SUMMARY:
A position is available to develop software and statistic tools to advance the competitive performance of broiler chickens. The successful candidate will identify, monitor and troubleshoot real-time data being collected from remote technologies. The candidate must create statistic and visualization tools to enable fast and accurate analyses of data and technology issues , query SQL systems and communicate findings with statisticians, farm caretakers, and engineers. Daily activities include, but are not limited to.
Monitor multiple reports from RTFC database tables and dashboards
Communicate data issues and flags to appropriate groups (farm, engineer, IT and geneticists)
Support system (database) in order to troubleshoot data collection process and data transfers
Create queries and data summaries for new statistics to assess data quality and management of RTFC trials
Optimize and create data reports and checks
The candidate must have good written and communication skills, be a motivated, and able to work independently. Exposure to animal breeding is beneficial but is not required. This position requires a highly organized individual that is capable of prioritizing tasks in order to meet business needs and deadlines.
REQUIREMENTS:
Education: College degree or Vocational Technical education in Computer Science Information Systems, statistics or other technical area. Related experience may be acceptable. College degree preferred.
Experience: 2 plus year of industry experience in Information Systems 4 plus years preferred.
Computer Skills: Programming language (Perl, R, or others), familiar with Linux environment, SQL, Microsoft Office. The successful candidate must be a data scientist with statistics background and be proficient in R, python, and SQL. Knowledge and experience with machine learning is a plus. The candidate must have good written and communication skills, be a motivated, and able to work independently. Exposure to animal breeding is beneficial but is not required. Travel: 10 – 15% of the time.
Physical Requirements: Must use safe lifting techniques. While performing the duties of this job the team member is regularly required to stand walk sit use hands to finger handle or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms balance stoop talk or hear. The team member must occasionally lift and or move up to 25 pounds.
Personal Protective Equipment Required: When visiting facilities is expected to follow the required safety procedures and wear the required personal protective equipment.
Biosecurity: When visiting jobsites bio secure environments showering before entering the facilities is required. Appropriate clothing and footwear is provided by the Company. No jewelry may be worn on the jobsites except for medical ID jewelry. Must be willing to sign an agreement to avoid any avian species including chickens, turkeys, ducks geese, and other birds. The Company Animal Welfare Policy must be followed at all times.
