Part-time Lecturer in Law- IP Licensing
The candidate will instruct IP Licensing course for the spring 2018 semester. The purpose of this course is to provide students with the foundation for advising clients on IP Licensing for the motion picture, TV, music and multimedia industries. It is important to understand the business context of the transaction. Attorneys also need to know how to further their clients’ interests through practical advice and how to advocate for their client while still fostering a collaborative relationship with the other side. Students will become familiar with these different facets of transactional practice through a series of exercises and simulated lawyer work experiences. The course will cover a range of IP licenses, including traditional copyright, patent and software license agreements, public performance licenses, and agreements to secure rights from employees, independent contractors and third party contributors. The course is designed both for students focused on a career in entertainment or intellectual property law, as well as those interested in a career in business or corporate law.
