UI Engineer

Profile

In this position you will be joining the fastest growing business within DMD alongside a small nimble team with other skilled front-end developers in Austin to build sites for our content partnerships leveraging our product platform, Content Solutions.  Projects are with well-known brands like USA Today, Samsung, Golfsmith, and AOL.  Responsibilities:

Create and convert PSD’s into clean and easy to maintain HTML, and CSS.
Build HTML, CSS and presentational JavaScript from layered Photoshop files, user interface wireframes, and/or detailed written specifications


Perform regular A/B testing to optimize page layouts and overall site production


Use your creative and professional judgment to resolve design and technical challenges within aggressive timelines


Lead and recommend in the design and development of existing web properties
Design new engaging websites for major brands and publishers
Find solutions for cross browser issues in both HTML/CSS and JavaScript.
Work on multiple concurrent projects in different phases of completion, from conception through launch / release

Requirements:

5 years of building, tweaking and extending Web sites or apps (mobile web is a plus).
Passion for designing highly usable user interfaces and keeping up with latest internet and design trends
Stay current on latest web technologies and define innovative UX to consume content offerings such as:  animated GIFS, videos, infographics, blogs, traditional text, and many more
Strong knowledge with HTML and CSS (Responsive Web Design is a plus) to create table-less websites that adhere to web standards.
Regularly use server-side template languages such as Django and Jinja,
Familiarity with development in a LAMP environments.
Knowledge of and/or some experience with one or more languages:  Python, PHP, ASP, Ruby, JSP,  AJAX, Flash, HTML5, Javascript, JQuery
Strong JavaScript and JQuery skills.
Excellent written communication and verbal agility are necessary for cross-team collaboration.
Experience in the publishing industry, marketing agencies or multi-national brands
Experience with Google Analytics, Omniture, etc.
Experience building upon existing APIs, both internal (JSON, XML, RSS) and 3rd party (Twitter, Flickr, Facebook).
