Responsibilities and Duties
As the Delaware Code Editor, you will work to ensure the accuracy, clarity, and uniformity of the Delaware Code and other legal materials by making editorial revisions to the law, preparing legislation to make technical corrections to the law, and developing materials and trainings to improve the drafting of laws. Specifically, you will perform the following functions:
Work with the Code Revisors to make editorial revisions to enacted legislation.
Review and edit updates to the Laws of Delaware, Delaware Constitution, Delaware Code, and municipal charters, and identifies any technical or substantive errors or oversights found.
Coordinate activities necessary to ensure accurate and timely publication of the Delaware Constitution; the Delaware Code Online and print publications of portions of the Delaware Code, including the Landlord Tenant Code and the Divorce and Annulment Code; Laws of Delaware; and the municipal charters.
Assist the Registrar of Regulations, as needed, to review and edit the Register of Regulations and Administrative Code to ensure accurate and timely publication.
Prepare the annual technical corrections bill and engrossments for legislation amended in the legislative process.
Prepare updates to the Delaware Legislative Drafting Manual and develops legislative drafting workshops to teach legislative drafting to caucus attorneys, legislative staff, and others who draft legislation.
Maintain all electronic publications to be compliant with the Uniform Electronic Legal Material Act (UELMA).
Minimum Qualifications
The Delaware Code Editor must possess a Juris Doctor and have a valid license to practice law.
