Legal Counsel
Responsibilities: Advise Human Relations and business leaders on all labor and employment law areas, including employment policies, performance management and termination, recruiting and hiring, disability accommodations, leave management, employee privacy, discrimination claims, collective bargaining agreements, union grievance and arbitration proceedings, company response to unionizing campaigns, compensation and benefit plans, workers’ compensation and unemployment compensation matters, and wage and hour matters. Review, negotiate and draft contracts and associated documents to support McCormick's business activities. Manage litigation and dispute matters, including counsel to management about litigation risks and strategy. Provide legal advice and counsel to management and company personnel on various other matters facing McCormick, including commercial matters, antitrust matters, advertising law matters, and food law matters, among others. Manage, assess, and supervise outside counsel. Collaborate with management on key legal issues to facilitate risk assessment and pragmatic decision making and to develop viable business solutions to potential legal issues. Participate as the legal representative on various cross-functional projects and initiatives, and work collaboratively with key functional groups within Company.
