Sr. Network Engineer

Profile

Looking for a hands-on network engineer to lead in the design, development, procurement and deployment of new IT Network architecture. Engineer would also be responsible maintaining existing LANAaTs and WANAaTs as operational support across 6 to 10 campuses.
Responsibilities include:
Compiles reports concerning network operations and maintenance.
Monitors and responds to network problems.
Interfaces with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.
Troubleshoots network performance issues.
Analyzes network traffic and provides capacity planning solutions for new facilities with WAN connectivity.
Plans and leads network implementation projects, to include sizing, installation and documentation activities.
Performs a variety of systems engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, budgetary, and support facilities and/or equipment.
Evaluates and reports on new communications technologies to enhance capabilities of the network.
Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements.
Troubleshoots network systems when necessary and makes improvements to the network.
Required skills
Hands-on LAN and MPLS WAN technical experience in the design and deployment of network equipment including Cisco routers, Cisco edge switches, Juniper firewalls, Extreme Edge and Core switching products.
Experience with Internet gateways, MPLS, Firewalls, and strong IP routing protocols knowledge (TCP/IP, SNMP, OSPF, BGP, QoS).
Excellent verbal and writing communication skills
Familiarity with ITIL best practices
Active Secret Clearance
Desired skills
ITIL certified
CCNA, CCNP (or equivalent expertise)
Whatas Up Gold Monitoring Product
PBX and TDM experience
Experience in VoIP and Unified Communications
Experience as a project lead or project manager
Experience with sizing enterprise data network connections.
Experience in implementing QOS.
