·         Under the direction of the Registered Nurse, contributes to a full range of basic nursing care activities and related nonprofessional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient.
·         Care may be provided to the following patients: medical – surgical pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, swing bed/skilled, same day surgery, etc.
 
Responsibilities:
 

Performs safe and knowledgeable patient care in a holistic manner, and requests assistance when appropriate.
Recognizes changes in patient physical condition or behavior and notifies the RN in a timely and appropriate manner.
Assists the RN in assessment process by obtaining accurate vital signs, height and weight and documents in the medical record appropriately (graphic sheets,   I & O, etc.)
Demonstrates knowledge of infection control universal precautions through hand hygiene, isolation precautions and maintenance of a safe and clean environment
Provides protective measures and promotes a safe patient care environment (skin care, pressure ulcer prevention, fall prevention, etc.)
Operates medical equipment as appropriate to the CNA role
Contributes to and maintains a clean and organized nursing department environment; assists with cleaning and restocking supplies as necessary
Communicates appropriately with patients, visitors, medical providers and members of the interdisciplinary team, uses appropriate telephone etiquette.
Assumes other duties as assigned','!*!

High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Completion of nursing assistant program and current MN Nursing Assistant Certificate.
