VP & Head of Legal Counsel
Responsibilities: Serves as the principal legal resource for an extensive portfolio of operational functions including master services agreements and supplier agreements, intellectual property, complex technology transfer transactions, and real estate. Serves as a resource for legal issues regarding technology transfer, corporate matters, human resources, finance, tax, compliance, regulatory and related-manufacturing matters. Maintains working knowledge of all legal matters and provides support to other in-house colleagues. Reviews, negotiates and assists in the development of master services’ agreements, licensing, material transfers and other technology transfer agreements, and other vendor contracts including compliance with relevant state and federal laws. Supervises and coordinates the activities of outside legal counsel within areas of responsibility. Keeps current on wide range of biomanufacturing and pharmaceutical-related and legal and regulatory issues to assist in identifying legal issues requiring attention and to provide support and help with cGMP regulations and Health Authority requirements. May have other lawyers directly reporting, and if not the direct supervisor of other lawyers, serves as mentor and helps provide oversight of their work. Recruits, coaches, develops and retains qualified, competent staff. Creates and supports an environment, which fosters teamwork, cooperation, respect, diversity, and where staff feel valued, appreciated and recognized. Supports, enforces and interprets institutional and departmental procedures and policies. Provides annual performance reviews. Provides an environment of open communication. Demonstrates and maintains an effective open-door communication policy and process with staff. Serves as legal adviser to the CEO and Andelyn Biosciences Board of Directors. Develops and evaluates new approaches and technologies to meeting departmental and institutional goals. Completes, on a timely basis, projects as assigned by the CEO. Provides support with emphasis on manufacturing compliance, fraud and abuse compliance issues.
