VP for Student Development & Chief Diversity Officer
Duties: Reporting to the President, serves as the Chief Deputy in the areas of student development, diversity and inclusion. Oversees Health & Safety, Dean of Students Office with Residential Life, Student Activities, Athletics and student discipline, and all diversity and inclusion initiatives and other areas assigned by the President. Represents student and community needs to the President and Board of Trustees. Leads student, staff and faculty, community and diversity initiatives in conjunction with the President, other Vice Presidents and senior college leadership. Engages the campus in broad-scale, mission-driven student development and diversity activities to include student leadership, multicultural awareness, and an array of social, cultural, academic and recreational activities. Oversees operations of the Student Assembly, the shared governance body for students. Works with divisional and department heads to develop and implement strategic diversity and inclusion plans based upon the foundation, goals, and priorities of the College’s Diversity and Inclusion Task Force in order to institutionalize policies that support and advance diversity, equity and inclusion. Promotes and advances diversity, equity and inclusion items and issues related to pedagogy scholarly activities, civic and community engagement, and classroom climate. Serves as the operational lead for the President’s Task Force on Diversity & Inclusion. Administering student leadership and diversity service areas, maintains a safe and secure campus environment, oversees student discipline, resident life and ensures a vital experience for students who choose to live on campus, promotes a campus-wide health and wellness perspective, serves as part of system-wide network of CDO’s to support overall diversity goal, ensures compliance with Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Policy and strives to surpass the Policy goals as appropriate and relevant. Performs other duties as assigned by President.
