**MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. has an immediate opening for a Regional Safety Specialist.  Davey is a national horticulture landscape management firm, with operations through out the US and Canada. The Regional Safety Specialist guides and monitors the Eastern region activities pertaining to safety and loss prevention.  The Eastern region includes WV, MD and Northern VA.  The Regional Safety Specialist analyzes safe work practices, safety education and loss trend measurements against company standards.  Provides support towards attaining Davey safety culture goals.

 

This position in the Corporate Safety Department, reports directly to the Senior Safety Specialist

 

Major Functions:

*Assisting field management with implementation of new and existing safety programs to meet company requirements and government regulations *Schedule and direct safety education sessions *Conduct train the trainer safety education sessions *Visit field crews for instructional and hands-on training, job observation, inspections and verification of program compliance at various outdoor field worksites and outdoor/indoor field facilities, in varied geographic locations, terrain, climate and weather conditions *Analyze regional safety program effectiveness and make recommendation for improvement *Communicate safety program needs with management *Prepare evaluations and provide insightful written summary reports and recommendations to operations and safety management
Minimum Qualifications:

*Three (3) years of leadership responsibility in supervisory or foremanship capacity *Qualified arborist field experience, preferably to include qualified utility line clearance arborist experience.  Knowledge of advanced arboriculture equipment and climbing techniques *Solid working knowledge of tree and landscape safety standards and practices *Excellent communication skills, Spanish language/culture skills are desirable *Safety and Job Skills training experience   *First aid and CPR certified *Proficient in Microsoft Office applications *Ability to routinely travel locally and away from home *Relocation may be required, as needed
Additional Responsibilities:

The ability to attain Certified Tree Care Safety Professional (CTSP), OSHA 30-hour course certification, and similar safety professional qualifications and certifications related to the tree care industry.  Have extensive working knowledge of and ability to utilize heavy equipment, Bucket Trucks, Log Loaders, Knuckle Booms and Mowers associated to daily Commercial Grounds, Utility Line Clearance and Residential tree care practices.
