Purpose:
Provide engineering, technical assistance, and leadership to plant manufacturing and maintenance groups
Job Functions/Accountabilities:
Essential:
Through a continual daily involvement with plant operations, recommend and implement changes to equipment and procedures that will provide ongoing improvement in variable cost, reliability, performance, safety, and productivity.
Trouble shoot and resolve plant process or equipment problems, develop engineering solutions and oversee the implementation.
Recommend and implement changes to equipment and procedures that will provide ongoing improvement in variable cost, reliability, performance, safety, and productivity.
Serve on various improvement and safety teams such as Process Hazard Analyses reviews, Z-Sigma teams, 5S improvements, IQ suggestion improvements, root cause analysis, and ISO quality audits.
Manage, plan and implement all aspects of assigned capital projects, utilizing sound engineering judgement, designs and current technology. During implementation, manage outside vendors and contractors.
Work in concert with management and staff positions in support and/or development of the capital plan, annual budgets, waste reduction, cost control, new product development, process and equipment improvements, implementation of new technology, control systems, personnel training, PSM and safety.
Complete tasks and projects in a timely fashion meeting the plant's schedule requirements.
Continually seek ways to improve performance of our plant's operation and ensure that you customers' (both internal and external) needs are met. Adhere to the quality system.
Adhere to Zeon's basic principles, core values, and quality system.
Marginal:
Perform other duties deemed necessary by supervisor and/or plant or corporate management.
Regular attendance is essential for satisfactory performance in this position.
Qualifications:
Education:
Bachelors Degree in Engineering is required.
Bachelors Degree in Chemical Engineering is preferred
Experience:
Minimum of 5 years experience in a chemical plant/manufacturing facility with background in plastics and compounding elastomers.
Additional Requirements:
Excellent oral and written communication skills, commitment to continuous improvement and capable of interacting with employees and teams of all departments and all levels within the organization. Must be able to manage time to function effectively under changing and multiple priorities. Must be willing to work in a supporting role with minimal supervision. Utilizes lean manufacturing principles, 6 sigma, or other statistical methods. Prior SAP experience, with plant maintenance module experience preferred. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office programs. Ability to work extenuating hours including nights and weekends on occasion.

Work Conditions:
Office environment/Chemical Manufacturing Plant environment. Extensive time will be spent in the plant environment. Plant office environment with significant exposure to Plant elements. Plant environment is a multi-acre site that includes high noise levels, some exposure to fumes and dust, and at times working with hazardous materials. This position is expected to spend a significant portion of each shift walking through the plant up and down stairs and ladders as required to adequately direct activities in a large multi-acre facility. Works under time constraints to meet established schedules and deadlines.
